Biography
Professor Jeong Woo (Jimmy) Kim teaches International Humanitarian Law and Legal Research & Writing.

Before joining the faculty, he served as an attorney-advisor for the U.S. Army, advising commanders (including general officers) and staff on administrative investigations, regulatory compliance, fiscal law, government ethics, and the law of armed conflict. Prior to this, he worked as a research fellow for the DILA (Development of International Law in Asia) Foundation and assistant editor for the Korean Journal of International and Comparative Law, while teaching law courses in Handong as an adjunct lecturer. This was preceded by a brief stint clerking for the Honorable Tom Parker in the Supreme Court of Alabama.

His research interests include the law of armed conflict, international law (especially its history and theory), and law and religion.

He received his Ph.D. from the National University of Singapore Faculty of Law where he wrote his thesis on the privilege of combatants to kill in war. He also obtained an LL.M. from the Emory University School of Law, a J.D. (summa cum laude) from Handong International Law School, and a B.S. (magna cum laude) from the University of Maryland.
