
Alex Cooke is a Partner at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and is based in its Washington, D.C. office. Mr. Cooke represents developers, sponsors, private equity funds, independent power producers, an oil drilling rig operator, and other investors and companies in domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions and financings of energy and infrastructure projects. He has advised clients in transactions totaling billions of U.S. dollars that have received awards from the Financial Times, Project Finance, IJGlobal, Latin Lawyer and Power Finance & Risk.
Mr. Cooke earned a B.A. with highest distinction in economics and music from University of Virginia, an M.Sc. with distinction in economics and philosophy from London School of Economics, and a J.D. from Yale Law School. Prior to joining Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, Mr. Cooke served as a law clerk to the Honorable Morris Sheppard Arnold, a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
Mr. Cooke has taught courses on mergers and acquisitions and bank lending at China University of Political Science and Law in Beijing, China and at Handong International Law School in Pohang, South Korea.
Mr. Cooke and his wife have four children, and Mr. Cooke serves as the pianist at Sterling Orthodox Presbyterian Church.
