2nd Round GENERAL ADMISSION for Spring 2024
All Korean nationals must apply for General Admission. Also, as there are significantly more seats available via General Admission, certain non-Korean nationals may wish to apply via General Admission as well. You should contact our office if you have a question about which admission packet to complete.
Ⅰ. Application Schedule
- 1. Application Submission period: December 19, 2023 - January 9, 2024
- 2. Interview and HILS English proficiency examination (only given to the applicants who pass 1st round of document screening): January 20, 2024
Ⅱ. Eligibility
1. Applicants should poassess or be in the process of possessing a bachelor’s degree from an approved four-year college or university, or equivalent certificate by February 2024.
Ⅲ. Admission Process
1. A complete application packet must be mailed to the following address by January 9, 2024; otherwise, your application may be denied. (Domestic mail postmarked by January 9, 2024 is acceptable but international mail must arrive by January 9, 2024)

2. Once your application packet is reviewed and screened, the HILS Administrative Office will contact you to schedule an admissions interview and HILS English proficiency examination (taken on the date of the interview). Interviews and testing will be conducted on January 20, 2024
Ⅳ. Application Packet
A candidate for General Admission must complete and submit the following materials:

*Submission via email will only be accepted if the recommender sends the recommendation letter directly to lawschool@handong.edu.
*If you have applied for the general admissions this year, two recommendation letters could be waived.

Ⅴ. Important Notes
- 1. All of the documents must be written in English.
- 2. Use a 4*5 color portrait picture for the application form.
- 3. Each essay should be around 500 words.
- 4. One of your recommendation letters should be from a teacher or work supervisor.
- 5. University transcripts, diplomas, or certificate of pending graduation must be official, meaning a proper stamp, seal or signature must be affixed.
- 6. If University transcripts, diplomas, or certificate of pending graduation are not written in Korean or English, it should be translated into English and notarized by the Korean embassy/consulate. Then, both the original document and the notarized English translation must be submitted.
- 7. All of the documents must be mailed to HILS. E-mails or facsimiles will not be accepted.
- 8. The complete application packet must be mailed to HILS by January 9, 2024; otherwise, your application may be denied. (Domestic mail postmarked by January 9, 2024 is acceptable but international mail must arrive by January 9, 2024)
- 9. Falsifying any information or plagiarism on essays may result in denial of your application.
- 10. Applying for both General Admission and Special Admission is not permitted.
- 11. Regardless of your score on the English proficiency test, all applicants must take the HILS English proficiency examination.
- 12. Non-Korean nationals may be subject to a health screening on arrival at HILS.
- 13. All certificates should be issued no longer than 6 months.
