23 Graduates of the Handong International Law School of Handong Global University (President Soon-Heung Chang) passed the U.S. Bar Exam held in United States this February. Out of these people, 22 passed the Washington D.C.’s Exam, and 1 passed the State of California’s Bar Exam. Bar Exams in the United States are held two times each year, in February and in July, respectively.

Handong Global University’s International Law School (HILS), established in 2002, stands up to be the First U.S.-Style Law School in Republic of Korea. They have produced 457 U.S. Bar Exam passing graduates, which is over 70% of the graduates. It is exceptional to see graduates from non-English speaking countries reach this high of passing rate simply by being educated within Republic of Korea, and not in a Law School of United States. Also, the exceptional working capacity of the graduates is also famous. That is because during the time of study, the capability of applying theoretical knowledge into the field is cultivated through internships in domestic, overseas Law Firms, companies, governmental institutions, NGOs, and others. The graduates also fashion various awards won from Moot Court Competitions within and outside of Korea with exceptional grades. Especially, the academic program of Handong International Law School, evaluated to be exceptional in field of International Law, is almost same to that of Law Schools in United States, with 100% of courses held in English. Professors are also composed of previous U.S. Lawyers as well.

Graduate Sharad Kumar Sharma, a Nepal national, one of those that passed the Bar Exam said, “Three years in Law School up until the moment of the results being announced for the Bar Exam definitely was a challenging moment, but I was able to successfully complete it through the grace of God, dedication of the professors at HILS, and prayers and cheers of the alumni and fellow students.” He also said, “I wish to obtain various experiences in the field of International Law and wish to work in the location where God wants me to be at in Nepal.”

Another Graduate, Eric Guedeng Ledjebgue from Chad said, “Thank you to all those at HILS that made the challenge that looked impossible into something possible.” He also said, “I wish to dedicate myself into transforming my home nation Chad through the knowledge obtained here.”

Dean Eric Enlow of Handong International Law School said, “Our graduate school, the only 3-year, U.S. Style Law School in Republic of Korea, by producing U.S. Lawyers continuously, is fulfilling the increasing need for a foreign lawyers in the domestic legal market. In addition, the evaluation of the graduates that are already working as lawyers are also exceptional, making the status of HILS even higher in the legal market.”
